A mixture is any situation when two or more substances are mixed together. In a mixture, the different particles are close to each other but they are not joined. This means it should be possible to separate most mixtures out into their component parts. To do this, you need to look at the physical properties of the different parts of the mixture to work out a method for separating them.

In the comments section, describe your experience and summarize the key learning you gained by doing this lab. Be specific, tell exactly what you learned.

You get to see what it all looks like. You also get to see what they look like when you mix them all together. When you boil it all the ater dissolved.

I learned that you can't be exact all the time, because material may be lost or a different material may be gained. I also learned that you can seperate a mixture.

You learn to sepertare materials. when you mix then you observe and see if you can tell the substances apart. You have to be careful so you are accurate in your measurements.

i learned how to seperate mixtures. you observe them and see if you can tell the substances apart from other. during the experiment you have to be careful with the substances so you dont lose them. if you lose your substances your result wont be as accurate.you also learn how to seperate the mixtures.I thought this experiment was fun we should definately do more experiments like this ! :)

During the seperating mixtures lab, I learned some new things. The first being that once you contaminate a substance it is very hard to get it pure again. The second thing I learned was how to seperate mixtures in a concise manner.

In this lab, I learned about the different methods you can use to separate the materials in a mixture. With materials that are magnetic, like iron, you can use a magnet to separate if from the mixture. For materials that are grainy, chunky or course you can filter out of the mixture. Finally, with materials that dissolve, you can boil the mixture so that the water evaporates and leaves the final material.

it was a very different experience when we had to mix and then seperated them. it was a very hard endaver working on this assignment with my partner Mason "the scared llama" Hoffer. It was also interesting to see masons method of doing this assignment. We also recieved help from Rachel" Big Money" Reuer and Haley "Big Mo" Stewart. Anyways, it was a very fun experiment.

I learned how to seperate different types of things that took four different steps. i thought it was run becuase we got to use a filter and i thought that it was neat to be able to screen the sand away from the water and then the salt would go with the water and then when we boiled the water we got the salt back out of it ;). Also when we used the magnet on the iron it was really cool to see what the iron would do when you moved it,m it just looked really cool:)

I learned that when you mix mixture some materials can be left behind and by doing that changes the mass. I learned that when you mix materials it changes the way it all looks and when you mix like sand and salt together you can see the diffrent layers. When you boil the salt water when all the water evaporates the salt comes back but not all of it comes back so the mass changes.

I learned that you always have to follow directions or else you won't do the lab correctly. If you do the lab incorrectly, you possibly won't get a good grade. And I'm pretty sure we all know how to seperate mixtures now...(:
I also learned the difference between homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous (Spelling? Haha) mixtures.(:
